The Sanmina facility in Austin, Texas provides precision machining and mechanical assembly services to customers. Precision machining capabilities include vertical milling, horizontal milling, and turning on a wide range of materials including aluminum, copper, composites, stainless titanium, and high alloy steel with a milling envelope of up to 60" x 50" x 40". The facility specializes in high-mix, low volume production and also offers sub-assembly, integration, New Product Introduction services, and clean room assembly.

Job Purpose

The production machining intern learns hands-on skills in manufacturing, assisting experienced machinist in operating and setting up machinery like lathes and mills, performing quality checks, reading blueprints, and contributing to process improvement.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities



  • Operate, set up, and maintain manual and computer numerical control (CNC)machines, such as lathes, mills, and grinding machines.
  • Perform quality checks on manufactured parts using tools like calipers and micrometersto ensure they meet specified dimensions and tolerances.
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and other technical documents to understand part specifications.
  • Handle materials and assist with the procurement and organization of tools and equipment.
  • Contribute to efforts to improve production efficiency, streamline processes, and identify and resolve manufacturing concerns.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and practice good housekeeping



Education and Experience



  • Working towards four year degree or certificate.


  • Some college coursework completed.
  • Basic understanding of machining principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

Salary Range (annual): $35,360 - $38,489 ($17.00 - $18.00 per hour) . Actual base pay within this range (determined at the offer stage) will be based on a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills, and is just one element of our total rewards package. The total rewards package also includes a variety of benefits, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business and, depending on the role, may include eligibility for restricted stock unit awards and participation in a discretionary bonus program
