We Require
One year of experience working with political, federal, local, or state government officials or state legislators concerning intergovernmental programs, federal-aid highway programs, and/or proposed legislation Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Government Relations, Business, Planning, or a closely related field Related postgraduate degrees or professional-level experience may substitute for the education or experience on a year-for-year basis Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
Job Contributions
Ensure partnership compliance with Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) requirements and the Board of Supervisors' approval process, and build/maintain strong intergovernmental relationships/partnerships that demonstrate political sensitivity Coordinate and develop IGAs with MCDOT Project Managers and negotiate agreement terms with outside agencies and municipalities supporting the MCDOT Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and other projects Crosstrain to support other Intergovernmental Relations Branch programs, including Transportation Advisory Board, Legislative Affairs, Title VI Compliance, Intergovernmental Agreements, Policies and procedures, and SOPs as needed Ensure County and partner compliance with federal, state, regional, and County requirements Exercise independent judgment serving as MCDOT liaison to federal, state, regional, and/or local communities and private partners to monitor transportation projects and issues Customer service - Represent MCDOT at SCHOA & PORA community meetings; follow up on resident issues and requests Carry out special projects in support of the TIP and other MCDOT programs Other job duties as assigned
Working Conditions
This position is eligible for hybrid flexibility after a brief training period Exerting up to 10 pounds occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
