Job Summary: As part of National Finance, the Tax Manager is part of an expanding team focused on providing tax compliance and tax planning to the owners of BDO USA, P.C. This role is responsible for the indirect tax and non-income tax function of the corporate tax department. This includes keeping current on sales and use tax reporting (utilizing Vertex automation software), gross receipts tax, renewing business licenses, and executing annual personal property tax. This position also oversees the compliance for state registrations of all entities within the BDO USA group. In addition, the Tax Manager works with the Head of Tax in a dynamic environment to properly maintain entity rationalization and overall rights to do business. Job Duties:
- Gathers necessary data and information for the preparation of indirect tax and non-business tax returns
- Reviews tax returns prepared by the Tax Senior Accountant
- Conducts research and compliance analysis relating to various state and/or local tax reporting requirements
- Gathers required information, and drafts communications to respond to notices from tax authorities
- Tracks tax return filing and payment due dates to ensure compliance
- Facilitates responses to audits conducted by various tax authorities
- Maintains the Vertex sales tax automation software mappings to ensure sales tax is charged when required
- Coordinates the management of exempt certificates in the Vertex sales tax engine
- Reconciles relevant general ledger accounts that capture the accounting for indirect and non-business taxes
- Interacts with Office of General Counsel to register new affiliates and obtain authorizations to do business
- Other duties as required

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Education
- Bachelor's degree, required; focus in Accounting or Taxation, preferred
- Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation, preferred
Experience
- Five (5) or more years of experience in indirect and non-income tax preparation, required
- Experience registering new entities and maintaining authorization to do business, preferred
- Experience facilitating audits and resolving tax controversy, preferred
License(s)/Certification(s)
- CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA), preferred
Software
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically, Excel and Word, required
- Experience utilizing Vertex or other sales tax engine and compliance software, preferred

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
National Range:
$125,000 - $145,000
Maryland Range:
$125,000 - $145,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range:
$125,000 - $145,000
