Responsibilities
Role and Responsibilities: You will ensure that Transportation Officers are properly scheduled to transport inmates and vehicles are ready and available. Please note that you may perform the duties of the Transportation Officer when necessary. Your functions will include to:
- Assist Transportation Supervisor or Manager in the training of Transportation Officers.
- Schedule Transportation Officers work assignments.
- Monitor the Transportation Officers during the preparation, leaving, and returning from the facility to ensure the care and custody of detainees.
- Ensure and review maintenance of all assigned vehicles.
- Respond, investigate, and prepare reports on any accidents by assigned Transportation Officers.
- Transport detainees in case of emergency or lack of Transportation/Perimeter Officers.
- Ensure Transportation Officers semi-annual weapons qualifications are current.
- Ensure all Mission Trackers are complete and accurate.
- Maintain documentation and supports record with monthly billings.
- Maintain Department of Transportation (DOT) files.
- Maintain regulatory knowledge by attending at least 8 hours per year of transportation or regulatory topics related to transportation activities.
Qualifications
Competencies Required: If you enjoy working with many different people, have a cooperative spirit, thrive in a challenging environment, and are comfortable using software for employee supervision, you could be the person we're looking for. Apply if you meet the following: Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent certification required. Possession of applicable state requisites for employment.
- One (1) year transportation experience.
- Must have a valid weapons permit AND guard card.
- Must have a valid Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement within ninety (90) days from appointment.
- Must possess a State Firearms License (9mm).
- Knowledge of DOT requirements for Hours of Service and Vehicle inspections.
- Ability to set standards and procedures to establish satisfactory levels of performance, quality and productivity.
- Ability to coordinate the demands of the transportation operations
- Effective personnel interaction, communication skills, and problem-solving techniques.
- Sound and effective leadership skills.
- Ability to effectively train staff.
- Ability to write reports, memorandum, policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age or older.
- Must be a United States Citizen.
- Must pass a background check and drug screen.
- Must have resided within the United States or its Territories for three or more years out of the last five.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasionally: lift, carry, push, or pull up to 60 lbs. and above, bend, stoop, climb, and work in extreme temperatures.
- Frequently: lift or carry up to 40 lbs.; push or pull up to 60 lbs., reach above shoulder level, drive automatic equipment vehicles, work with machinery, walk, stand, sit.
