This position offers remote work allowing employees a combination of onsite and work from home options. The expected remote work schedule for this position will be based upon the needs of the department.

Job Summary

The Workforce Development Coordinator (Career Services Coordinator) performs activities designed to assist students with 1) college and career planning, 2) job search resources, and 3) employment opportunities including internships, externships, job shadowing, apprenticeships and/or direct hire opportunities. This position works closely with business and industry stakeholders and collects and analyzes data and information to assist in the development of workforce preparation activities.

Essential Functions

30% - Engages adult education students in career-assessments and provides assistance for students developing a career plan, including mock interview support, resume writing skill development, completing applications for employment, and building interview and job search skills; Informs students on employability skills and provides suggestions to students to gain relevant skills for targeted industries; Connects students with appropriate employment opportunities related to their field of interest including internships, externships, job shadowing, apprenticeships and/or direct hire opportunities and conducts necessary follow-up when applicants are placed in positions

30% - Establishes and maintains effective and cooperative working relationships with employers from target industries and/or workforce partnerships to identify and develop job placement opportunities for students; Articulates needs of employers to students and appropriate college personnel; Engages in ongoing networking with workforce ecosystem partners across business, professional, and community organizations to enhance job placement and training activities; Researches industry standards, trends, best practices, and emerging technologies and makes recommendations for implementation of education coursework and/or training opportunities aligned with employer-validated work readiness standards and competencies

30% - Creates workshop and training materials, conducts training, facilitates meetings, and provides assistance to participants to support student success; Collects and tracks job placement data; Compiles data and prepares reports regarding skills gained and placement efforts aligned to national performance indicators; collaborates regularly with college and career navigators, success coaches, location staff, and instructors

10% - Stays current on state and federal regulations related to employment and workforce development and ensures program compliance by updating printed flyers, website information, and other materials shared internally and externally; Participates in ongoing departmental training and cross-training activities to ensure an understanding of the colleges programs, curriculum, policies, procedures, resources, and services available to students; Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in business administration, education or related field and one (1) year of experience in workforce training, vocational training and/or economic development.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Special Requirements: Must be able to obtain the Arizona Department of Education Adult Education Certification (which includes AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card).

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: Applicants must have or be able to obtain an Adult Education Certificate within 30 days of hire.

Desired Qualifications

A. Two (2) years or more of experience working with business, industry, employers and /or the public workforce system regarding workforce and economic development
B. Two (2) or more years of training or curriculum development experience
C. Two (2) or more years of experience in employment recruiting, job placement, and/or career services
D. Two (2) or more years of experience researching local labor market trends and implementing solutions and best practices
E. Two (2) or more years of experience analyzing, evaluating, and summarizing statistical data

Special Working Conditions

Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense. May require evenings or weekends. May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen. May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs. Will be required to travel or be assigned to multiple locations.
