Job Summary

The SBDC Operations Supervisor role provides vital operational leadership for the Maricopa Small Business Development Center (a specially-funded program), ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of all day-to-day activities. The position oversees key areas such as HR and recruitment processes, budget planning and management, expense tracking, and facilities coordination. In addition to internal operations, this role serves as a key collaborator, working closely with the Arizona Small Business Development Center Network's State Office, MCCCD District Office personnel, the U.S. Small Business Administration District Office, and various funding and community partners. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in supporting small businesses and entrepreneurship across the region.

Essential Functions

40%
  • Manages, coordinates and oversees the completion all relevant tasks and processes related to the overall direction, operation, and program goals/objectives of the Maricopa Small Business Development Center using independent decision making and judgment. This program is a federally funded grant program, hosted by the MCCCD.
  • Coordinates and tracks projects and activities of the Center. This includes overseeing all client interactions, including client assignments, client tracking, and report generation.

20%
  • Performs specialized financial functions in support of a $2 million budget, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of complex financial analysis and reporting.
  • Ensures compliance with federal and other grant requirements, and manages the preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual financial reports.
  • Oversees travel authorizations, expense reports, and payroll reporting to maintain accuracy and alignment with funding guidelines.
  • Creates policies and procedures for tracking funds and travel related activities as well as fiscal management issues for the Center. This includes data collection, data analysis, research, and report preparation.

20%
  • Coordinates staffing and operational needs for human resources. Including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, team-building, discussing reviews, and resolving conflicts.

15%
  • Develops outreach presence. Including social media, website presence and maintenance, marketing email communications, and materials for the Center's programs.

5% - Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, business or public administration, or directly related field and two (2) years of related program management experience preferably in a small business setting or one that serves small business owners.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications
  1. Two (2) years familiarity with the Small Business Development Center Program.
  2. Two (2) years experience working in an administrative capacity for Maricopa Community Colleges.
  3. Three (3) years of experience with budget creation, tracking and expense management, preferably with the use of a purchasing card.
  4. Three (3) years of expert level with Microsoft Office Suite and use of relational database.
  5. Four (4) years of excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
  6. Two (2) years of experience event planning and execution for up to 250 people.
  7. Bilingual (Spanish speaking)


Special Working Conditions

Will travel to locations throughout Maricopa County.
