Job Summary:
Under the direction of the South Plant General Manager is responsible for the daily activities of the scheduling staff. This position will initiate actions to plan and schedule production across ALL manufacturing departments. The Supervisor will assist the Schedulers, Production Supervisors and Managers in coordinating schedule optimization. Ensure reliable customer promise, balance workloads across the platform, and cost-effective operations to complete production tasks on a timely basis. This position will promote a safe, quality environment in accordance with company policies, procedures and values.
Essential Functions:
- Running and interpreting capacity reports (daily/weekly).
- Managing preloads and Salesforce updates for scheduling accuracy.
- Assigning jobs to presses and/or finishing equipment and balancing workloads.
- Monitoring and reporting on yearbook/commercial backlogs.
- Leading On-Time Delivery reporting and root cause tracking.
- Coordinating repair tickets, ensuring accurate routing and prioritization.
- Developing weekend work plans and securing approval
- Oversee scheduling for plant production.
- Coordinate production of jobs as they pass through various departments and provides daily schedules for ALL departments.
- Tasked with conducting daily production meetings with scheduling staff, production supervisors to forecast production. Determine priorities when conflicts occur.
- Tasked with maintaining daily communication with shift production supervisors (directly or indirectly).
- Provides agreed-on customer schedules, clarifies and communicates customer expectations to schedulers and production departments.
- Coordinate how to best program and plan to meet the needs of the organization.
- Communicates production forecast to management and facilitate production plans or models.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency with AS400, Salesforce, Excel reporting
- Strong analytical skills for capacity forecasting and backlog management.
- Ability to communicate cross-functionally with Customer Service, Prepress, Press, QA, and Logistics.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects.
- Ability to remain organized and self-directed in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to interface with a variety of individuals or groups on a frequent basis.
- Ability to work with limited direction and supervision, while demonstrating good judgment and strict confidence.
- Ability to learn computer applications as necessary for the position.
- Must successfully complete any training or certification courses required to support or strengthen position.
- Ability to read, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions, work procedures and other related materials.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong customer service skills.
- Must communicate appropriate information accurately and clearly as needed.
- Demonstrated advanced proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Windows based databases.
PHYSICAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Office and plant floor environments; travel to plants as needed.
- Capable of working in stressful conditions balancing competing priorities across manufacturing.
- May be required to work weekend overtime Supervising manufacturing areas when management is short staffed.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 5+ years in scheduling, production planning, or related manufacturing leadership.
- Experience with enterprise scheduling tools and reporting preferred.
