As a member of the Blue Origin family of companies Honeybee Robotics has been at the forefront of robotics for over 40 years, establishing ourselves as pioneers in developing novel exploration systems for the most extreme planetary environments. At our Southern California location, we look to "Touch Life" by supporting planetary science, including every NASA Mars rover since Spirit and Opportunity. We aim to "Mine the Sky" through the development of practical In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) solutions. This position provides organizational support for customer programs and supplier quality requirements. The candidate will be responsible for quality engineering, system and process improvements, supplier development and RCCA activity including non-conformance analysis and implementation of effective countermeasures.

Responsibilities:

  • Decipher customer and program requirements, and develop a strategy and plan to enforce and execute the plan throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Develop key performance metrics and ensure QA processes are well maintained.
  • Manage a team of Quality Engineers and Quality Technicians.
  • Lead quality functions for assigned programs from proposal through shipment to customer while complying with customer requirements and achieving cost and delivery expectations.
  • Host customer quality audits and participate in internal quality audits.
  • Interface with suppliers and customers concerning program quality requirements.
  • Establish QA/QC tools for measuring supplier performance that affect our products and services.
  • Issue formal supplier corrective action requests (SCARs) and work with them to resolve problems.
  • Issue internal and supplier Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA).
  • Provide advice and guidance in interpreting and adapting quality standards and government regulations.
  • Analyze design reliability and quality to recommend process changes and enhancements.
  • Work closely with engineering in bringing quality products to production readiness.
  • Track action plans from supplier audits and assessments and monitor their activity for completion and correctness.
  • Lead quality in production activities and interface with a variety of personnel in support of production including operators, quality engineers, inspectors, shop floor supervisors, program managers, project engineers and design engineers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in science or engineering discipline.

  • Knowledge and understanding of current ISO 9001 / AS 9100 quality systems.
  • Working knowledge with interpretation of engineering specifications, mechanical drawing and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
  • Knowledge of process capability concepts including Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Supplier quality assurance experience.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing practices
  • In depth understanding ERP/MRP planning systems.
  • Strong skills in MS Windows - Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Familiar with and able to work in MS Project.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree with a focus on electronics or mechatronics.
  • Experience working in military or aerospace quality systems.
  • Significant experience working directly with customers and suppliers.

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $136,230.00-$190,720.95

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
