Position Summary

Lead Lab Processing Technician to lead a team of research lab technicians or function independently as the sole technologist at a CTPL satellite location of the Clinical Trials Processing Laboratory (CTPL) within the Comprehensive Cancer Center; coordinates all activities of the CTPL including preparing labels, labeling tubes for specimen collection, specimen processing, specimen storage, specimen shipping, data management, inventory control and quality control of human biological samples; performs all activities of a research lab technologist; uses prescribed laboratory methods, instruments and automated equipment; prepares necessary supplies for specimen collection; processes biological specimens from patients enrolled in studies conducted by the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC) including preparing tubes, syringes, and specimen labels for specimen collection; processes specimens of time-sensitive patient samples for pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic and other correlative studies; retrieves and ships samples; manages sample inventory log and electronic database; interacts with research protocol and hospital clinical staff; performs routine and complex processing and testing of samples; monitors and ensures periodic and routine maintenance of CTPL equipment; provides input in developing CTPL SOPs; participates in instruction and training of new Lab Processing Technicians and students; represents the CTPL during sponsor site qualification, initiation and monitoring visits; ; serves as CTPL technical expert; Must be able to work weekdays and share night, weekend, and holiday on-call and call back duties with other Lab Processing Technicians within the CTPL.

Job Requirements

Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Biological Science required; Bachelor's Degree preferred. 4 years of relevant experience required. Good working knowledge of the principles, operations, and maintenance of laboratory procedures and equipment is required.
