The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental, intellectual, or physical disabilities by providing compassionate and personalized support. This position focuses on assisting clients in achieving greater independence through daily living activities, skill development, and community integration. The DSP collaborates closely with clients, their families, and interdisciplinary teams to implement individualized care plans that promote dignity, respect, and self-determination. By fostering a safe and supportive environment, the DSP helps clients build confidence and pursue their personal goals. Ultimately, this role contributes to empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives within their communities.

• Provide direct care and support to individuals with disabilities, assisting with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
• Implement individualized support plans by facilitating skill-building activities that promote independence and community participation.
• Monitor and document client progress, behaviors, and any changes in health or well-being, communicating effectively with supervisors and healthcare professionals.
• Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that encourages client autonomy and social engagement.
• Assist with transportation and accompany clients to appointments, social events, and community activities as needed.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to pass background checks and any required health screenings.
• Demonstrated compassion and patience in working with individuals with disabilities.
• Basic communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to complete any required training or certification related to direct support services.

• Previous experience working as a Direct Support Professional or in a related caregiving role.
• Certification in CPR and First Aid.
• Knowledge of developmental disabilities and behavioral support techniques.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing client needs.

In daily work, the Direct Support Professional utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trusting relationships with clients and their families. Compassion and patience are essential for effectively supporting individuals through challenges and encouraging their growth.
