DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will provide management services to ensure compliance with contract documents, departmental standards, and federal regulations for non-complex Locally Sponsored Federal or State Aid projects. Your role will involve applying engineering principles to make informed decisions about work assignments while overseeing the inspection of materials and workmanship on construction projects within Engineering District 11. These projects include pavement reconstruction, single-span bridge structures, and limited interchanges, all of which must adhere to approved plans and specifications. It is crucial to clarify technical aspects related to materials and engineering principles for infrastructure and roadway projects to maintain high workmanship standards. Quality Assurance reviews will be conducted, and support will be provided to resolve any quality or material issues. Furthermore, you will oversee the reviews of Locally Sponsored projects to ensure their integrity and compliance.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time on an ad-hoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bridgeville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS)
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $69,203 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of civil engineering experience and an Engineer-In-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
  • One year of civil engineering experience in highway design, construction or maintenance related projects and a bachelor's degree with major course work in civil engineering.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
