DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this essential position, you will oversee a bridge inspection assistant while carrying out various technical tasks related to the inspection of bridges and other structures, adhering to the National Bridge Inspection Standards. Your responsibilities will include conducting safety inspections on existing bridges, evaluating all structural elements such as concrete footings, abutments, steel beams, and safety features. You will assess conditions for issues like accident damage, water erosion, and corrosion on steel components, while also maintaining comprehensive inspection records, including data for the Bridge Management System (BMS3), photographs, and field sketches. Occasionally, you may be assigned special tasks, such as inspecting smaller bridges, documenting unique conditions, or monitoring scour effects. It is crucial to stay updated on BMS3 for accurate data entry and inquiries.

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,971 (before taxes)

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position is required to meet the qualifications for a bridge inspection team leader as defined by the current National Bridge Inspection Standards.
- This position requires possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
Other Requirements:
