RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

SPARC Associate

The SPARC team at Goldman Sachs combines software and systems engineering to run, and maintain high performance, distributed, fault tolerant trading systems. AppBank Equities focuses on ensuring our clients' experience of the Goldman Sachs engineering platform is best in class.

As SPARC Automation developer you will be constructing and executing analyses of large data-sets, identifying issues, trends, and opportunities for automation. You will build automated tooling and solutions to address risks in the plant, and improve the operational reliability of our systems. You will collaborate with other infrastructure and engineering teams

We are looking for passionate, curious, driven engineers who thrive on solving operational problems and improving efficiency and would like to apply their skills.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Responsibilities:

• Participate in technical design, documentation, estimating implementation efforts
• Develop, test and support software products
• Perform user acceptance testing, analyze test results and plan for bug-fixes

Preferred Technical Skills:

• Enterprise database systems (Sybase)
• NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, ElasticSearch
• Programming in Python, Java or UNIX Shell script.

Must have Five (5) year of experience with:

• Interpreted language such as Python or programming in a complied language such as Java.
• Restful APIs, Core Java, Spring, Kafka and related frameworks.
• Software development experience including software design.
• Database technologies including modelling and performance tuning.

Interpersonal Skills:

• Passionate about analyzing operational problems and addressing via automation.
• Strong, committed and reliable team player and strong communicator, able to take direction but also willing to contribute to discussions on design and strategy.
• Client-facing skills to be able to deal with and form good relationships with the business and other technology groups.
• Interest in financial markets, and technology.
