Summary of Job Duties:**SHIFT IS 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM**

The Medical Assistant (MA) in the Behavioral Health Service Line Center for Addiction Services & Treatment (CAST) Clinic provides direct patient care to assigned patients. The MA works under the direct supervision of the clinic manager by assisting in the examination and treatment of patients. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or formal education equivalent
  • Completion of Medical Assistant training program
  • Current BLS
  • Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethic and accountability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an ambulatory care setting
  • 1 or more years of MA experience

Additional Information:

Job Requirements:

  • The MA prepares treatment rooms for examinations, assists with medical procedures and examinations, conducts patient interviews, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and phlebotomy.
  • The MA performs EKGs, collects urine drug screens, and performs BAC collections.
  • The MA audits charts and researches & transcribes physicians' orders/accession orders for clinical laboratories or appropriate processing centers.
  • The MA performs administrative tasks by charting, registering and scheduling patients for appointments, procedures, etc. using the various registration and scheduling systems.
  • The MA performs other duties as needed.

Employee must successfully complete a UAMS-sponsored conflict management training to identify, prevent, and mitigate disruptive behaviors using methods such as non-escalation, de-escalation, personal protection from physical assaults, and physical alternatives within six months of hire.
