LEAD CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER

The Lead Construction Engineer will oversee a team of construction engineers across multiple disciplines to design, build and activate infrastructure that will enable orbital launch capability for the largest rocket in the world.This role will participate, coordinate, and execute infrastructure projects as well as provide support to the operations and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and utilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Lead and mentor a team of construction engineers, focused on the development, value engineering, and construction of SpaceX site facilities.
  • Develop and train direct reports to enable extreme ownership and empowered decision making.
  • Coordinate with operations teams to define project requirements, perform constructability assessments, and prioritize work timelines.
  • Coordinate all phases of development projects, including interactions with other groups on site to maximize productivity and organize schedules to fit operations.
  • Prepare and coordinate all capital expenditure processes, including reviews, approvals, and execution of site capital projects.
  • Ensure technical specifications, budget, and deadlines are met.
  • Communicate and deliver building activities and schedules to personnel, subcontractors, and material suppliers to effectively and efficiently execute targeted deadlines.
  • Manage external contractors, including proposal requests, development of specifications, and supplier selection.
  • Provide technical support and information to ensure construction complies with all standards, codes, and specifications.
  • Guide team members through multiple jurisdictions' permitting requirements and inspection processes.
  • Develop cost estimates, material requisitions, plans, and specifications for multiple small and large multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Be proactive with respect to team growth and department/company strategy.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management.
  • 3+ years of professional experience working in construction project management, construction engineering, or facility design.


PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:



  • 5+ years of leadership experience, either leading people or multi-disciplinary complex projects.
  • Ability to perform and manage technically complex projects using independent judgement and personal initiative.
  • Experience reading, understanding, and creating blueprints, technical manuals, and reports.
  • Experience with facility design software and tools such as Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, BIM 360, Navisworks, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.

  • Active Top Secret, Top Secret SCI, OR ability and willingness to obtain a Top Secret

    clearance is desired but not required.



ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work in environments with extreme odors, fumes, and noise.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Lead Construction Engineer/Lead: $125,000.00 - $175,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
