Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor (Bridges)

The Department of Transportation is actively looking to hire a Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor (Bridges). This pivotal role encompasses responsibilities as the District Load Rating Engineer and the APRAS Support Engineer, ensuring the integrity and safety of bridge structures. In this position, your primary responsibility will involve determining which bridges are most significantly impacted by the APRAS system, particularly in relation to the busiest highways that accommodate heavy hauling permits. This task may necessitate a thorough re-evaluation or the development of new data sets to ensure that our heavy hauling clients receive optimal service. Additionally, you will be tasked with reviewing Load Rating analyses conducted by external consultants. This will involve examining various methodologies and techniques that will be presented for your assessment. Given the intricate nature of this engineering work, it is essential for you to possess a comprehensive understanding and a flexible mindset to navigate the diverse approaches that may arise.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time on an ad-hoc basis during winter season. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
• Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline; or
• Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline.

Special Requirements:

• This position will require possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
• This position will require possession of a valid driver's license.

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
