DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As you engage in our six-month on-the-job training program, you will develop crucial skills necessary for the effective operation of highway construction and maintenance equipment, while also undertaking various manual labor tasks as an integral part of a highway or bridge maintenance team. This program prioritizes the creation of a safe work environment for yourself, your coworkers, and the public by adhering to established safety protocols and utilizing the appropriate protective gear. You will gain experience in conducting visual assessments, making manual adjustments, and clearly communicating your observations both in writing and verbally. Maintaining vigilance in the work area is essential for mitigating potential risks and hazards. With the support of an instructor, you will also achieve the required licensing and certification to operate heavy construction machinery, including Heavy Truck/Tandem Axle (HT/TA) vehicles and loaders with a bucket capacity of 4.5 cubic yards or less. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
- Schedule is subject to change due to weather/season, winter shifts are 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work.
- This position requires possession of a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of work.
- This position requires operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions
