Job Summary:


The Paint Lead is responsible for directing the work of a crew of workers in the construction of a high-quality machine that meets engineering specifications and customer satisfaction in a safe and efficient manner.


Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions of the Job:



  • Assigns and prioritizes work and manages cleaning schedule
  • Apply finish coatings to parts in a timely and accurate fashion according to JOA paint specifications.
  • Troubleshoot problems with equipment.
  • Manages the training and functional onboarding of new paint department personnel.
  • Work with engineers to update prints when required.
  • Report painting routing errors to Assembly Project Coordinator.
  • Assures compliance with company safety policies and work rules.
  • Mix and prepare paint components to the proper ratios.
  • Maintain and operate spray painting gun to paint parts and structures per department schedule.
  • Maintain and operate gun washer.
  • Maintain and operate rotary power wash tank including monitoring PH levels of water.
  • Maintain and operate pressure washer.
  • Maintain and operate recycling still.
  • Manages records for still including paint usage.
  • Manages inventory of paint and paint supplies and order inventory as necessary.
  • Provides input into new paint procedures and techniques.


  • Manages the dispatch for processing work orders to ensure work orders are processed according to release dates.
  • Reports on metrics.



Occasional Job Responsibilities:



  • Cleans and maintains a safe working environment in the paint department.



Job Requirements:



  • Requires education equivalent to a High School Diploma
  • Requires 4 - 5 years of industrial painting experience.
  • 1 - 2 years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Requires good oral and written communication skills in order to interact with and provide work direction to employees.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, specifications, routings and shop orders.
  • Ability to navigate CAD documents required.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems required.
  • Must be proficient in use of spray-painting equipment and washing equipment.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be able to collaborate with others (including in person) to proactively develop solutions.
