Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Accounting Assistant I for Rutgers Global.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Administers Rutgers Global's financial and human resources activities (accounting, internal university transactions, HCM/Banner, etc.).
- Assists with grant administration and contract review.
- Prepares data and internal financial reports for the Associate Director.
- Assists with the month-end close process, including account reconciliation and analysis, salary and fringe review, and processing/submitting correcting ECI and journal entries.
- Assists with over 100 study abroad program pricing and reconciliation.
- Works with the Director of Global Analytics to clean, maintain, and enhance analytical databases.
- Takes regular internal training on newly introduced system upgrades across University Accounting system and Human Resources.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree and at least three (3) years of professional experience with database/spreadsheet software for accounting and/or data tracking purposes; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

- Effective organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer programs.
- Some experience required in preparation of written informational materials; group training or presentations; and customer relations.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, CIS or other field related to management of data and/or financial records.
- Familiarity with Rutgers' online accounting and purchasing systems, including OFIS, Marketplace and all Cornerstone application.
- Experience with international education.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- An active interest in foreign cultures and languages for effective communication with foreign national clients and for added enjoyment of the job.
