Job Description

Summary

The Technical Services Specialist analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and

related documentation to develop cost estimates for piping materials used in water and

wastewater infrastructure projects. This role involves frequent interaction with external

customers and internal teams across multiple channels, including in-person meetings,

virtual platforms, and phone calls.

Customer visits may include engineering firms, job sites, or office, with occasional

regional or out-of-state travel. Internally, the role collaborates with sales, engineering, and

planning to ensure project requirements meet requirements for the end-user. Success

requires effective communication, technical accuracy, and a customer-focused mindset

throughout the project lifecycle.

Valid Driver's License and Clean Motor Vehicle Report is required per McWane Corporate Policy

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: This is a full-time, on-site position (minimum 40 hours/week). Duties include:

Technical & Engineering Support

  • Provide technical assistance for product inquiries.
  • Review restrained joint projects prior to CSR release.
  • Create Bills of Materials and cost estimates.
  • Perform AutoCAD line drawings and BOM creation.
  • Develop product drawings for submittals and shop fabrication.
  • Interpret engineering specications as needed.
  • Maintain product knowledge of piping systems and appurtenances.
  • Other duties may be assigned by management.

Pricing & Estimation

  • Update and maintain pricing models for anged/fabricated items.
  • Support estimation and planning within budget constraints.

Communication & Customer Engagement

  • Deliver presentations and conduct site visits.
  • Engage customers via phone, video, and in-person.
  • Coordinate between Sales staff and MIPL as needed.

Content Development & Marketing

  • Contribute to inbound/content marketing efforts.
  • Create tip sheets, guides, and written content for blogs, videos, and podcasts.
  • Review and edit marketing materials.

Continuous Improvement & Culture

  • Promote continuous improvement across operations.
  • Address errors and complaints within scope.
  • Keep leadership informed of critical developments.
  • Foster positive cross-team relationships

Safety & Compliance

  • Observe and enforce company policies and safety protocols.
  • Maintain safe work practices and housekeeping standards.
Qualifications

Qualications Summary

Education & Experience: Bachelors in Math, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or Business. 2-4 years in construction/utility eld (blueprints, drafting, estimating, product knowledge). Equivalent education/experience accepted.

  • AutoCAD required.

Computer Skills

  • Prociency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Skilled in AutoCAD for technical drawings
  • Adobe/InDesign familiarity a plus

Language & Communication

  • Reads/interprets specs, drawings, and policies.
  • Writes reports and clear correspondence.
  • Presents and correspond with peers, coworkers, and customers effectively.

Math & Reasoning

  • Calculates area, volume, percentages.
  • Interprets diagrams and technical instructions.
  • Solves practical problems with sound judgment.
