Position Description
Primary Purpose and Essential Functions |
The School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of the Pacific invites applications for a Visiting Professor or Lecturer (part-time, non-tenure track) in Engineering Management or Construction Management for five (5) months beginning in January 2026 and ending in May 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the two courses listed below, as well as other duties based on qualifications:
EMGT 174 - Engineering Project Management
ENGR 290 - Project Management/Leadership
These courses focus on leadership principles, project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and team dynamics in engineering and construction contexts. The position is based on the Stockton campus and does not require research or advising responsibilities.
The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching at a predominantly undergraduate institution. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Master's degree in Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in project management and leadership in engineering or construction environments.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Ph.D. in a related field.
- Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional).
- Prior university-level teaching experience.
- Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Industry experience in engineering or construction project leadership roles.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using a computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
Work is performed during standard hours, but additional hours may be required to meet academic needs or deadlines.

Hiring Range |
$30,000 - $35,000 (We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.) |
