Summary

Lead a dynamic team of Managers for the Company's Generation Transmission & Distribution Project Management Office (Gen-T&D PMO). This team manages innovative capital infrastructure projects through development, permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning. These power generation, transmission, distribution, and facilities projects generally range in size from $1 million to over $200 million.

Provide leadership to managers and professional associates while being accountable for the performance and results of multiple related teams. Develop strategic plans, including business, production and/or organizational priorities. Decision making is guided by department objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Project and Program Management Teams Manages project and program management teams in PGE's Gen-T&D Project Management Office (PMO) for the development and execution of large, complex power generation, transmission, and distribution and facility projects and programs to meet PGE's growth needs and regulatory requirements in a safe, cost-effective and responsible manner. Ensures projects deliver quality and value to the customer while meeting safety, environmental, cultural and community requirements. Executes major capital projects and programs on schedule and within budget to increase equity and thus corporate earnings. Provides executive management with timely recommendations and accurate cost estimates, budget input and schedules regarding project expenditures. Ensures resolution of problems with internal and external organizations that impact the PMO's ability to execute capital work. Coordinates closely with other PGE organizations to maintain strong relationships and operational efficiency.
  • Manage Center of Excellence Manages, trains and maintains a center of excellence for managing the execution of key capital projects using best practices. Develops employees to ensure a successful mix of technical skills and experience. Continually improves project management tools and processes. Works closely with internal and external project participants to establish a team culture and support team-building activities.
  • Functional Leadership Exercises comprehensive functional and industry knowledge in specialized areas; identifies and resolves complex multidimensional business problems; exercises delegated authority over planning, direction and timely execution for a functional area or program; establishes and maintains contacts with management levels within and outside the company and at government agencies and with industry experts in accomplishing function or program objectives.
  • Financial Management Coordinates closely with Project Controls to ensure forecasts and budgets are accurately represented in project forecasts. Closely tracks annual and monthly project variances to understand differences and reforecast. If necessary, rebalance project activities within the approved project portfolio to meet annual spend targets.
  • Resourcing Oversees workforce planning and resource strategy across multiple departments, ensuring that there is adequate skilled resource to meet planned service delivery or department objectives; ensures integration with strategic human resource plans; responsible for recruitment, development and demand forecasts for multiple departments.
  • Professional Development Determines organizational development needs in line with business needs and strategic direction of departments; generates development strategies to achieve required change; monitors progress and evaluates business benefits achieved.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in degree in engineering, business or other related field or equivalent experience.
  • Twelve or more years managing large complete projects in or in a related field; management experience preferred.
  • Professional engineering license or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Requires a valid driver's license

Preferred:

  • Expert knowledge of the principles, concepts and methods used in engineering, construction and maintenance of generation and T&D assets.
  • Expert knowledge and skill in managing major generation, transmission and distribution capital projects on time and on budget.
  • Expert knowledge of engineering/economic principles and concepts.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction/engineering disciplines and technical understanding of utility infrastructure.
  • Advanced knowledge of procurement and contract administration.
  • Advanced knowledge of local, state and federal regulations and guidelines as it relates to permitting laws and field practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of job planning and problem evaluation techniques.

Compensation Range:

$154,980.00 - $287,820.00

Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
