Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $124,960 - $165,572. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

The Talent Enablement department is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining S&C's global talent management ecosystem designed to facilitate organizational, professional and career development in support of S&C's strategic objectives and competitive advantage in the market.

The Manager - Learning and Development manages the global learning and development function of S&C, assessing company-wide learning needs, overseeing the design, creation, implementation and evaluation of innovative learning solutions that enhance team member performance and achieve talent and business goals. The role leads a team of learning and development professionals and business support team members, providing day-to-day direction and support on the delivery of training programs and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Deployment: Own the execution of global learning strategies aligned with S&C's overall business goals. Cascade learning strategies to establish short-term operational goals and objectives for the training and development team that are designed to meet overall Talent Enablement objectives. Partner with functional groups and leaders to develop strategic programs that drive performance, compliance, engagement, and culture. Create and maintain the annual training calendar and define project plans for large-scale learning and development projects.
  • Training Needs Assessment: Asses company-wide training needs through needs assessments, surveys, performance evaluations, training feedback, and interviews. Partner with department heads, leaders, and Human Resource teams to understand specific skill gaps and training requirements. Collaborate with subject matter experts, internal stakeholders, and external partners to ensure training content is accurate, relevant, and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Training Design & Delivery: Oversee and support the design and delivery of virtual, live, blended, custom E-learning and off-the-shelf learning programs, curricula, and other innovative solutions that follow proven adult, technical learning principles. Align learning solutions with established departmental and organizational development strategies and goals. Review and revise learning programs and provide recommendations for improvements. Oversee the maintenance of all S&C learning assets. Facilitate engaging virtual and in-person training programs, workshops, and other training-related initiatives as required. Program & Vendor Management: Source, assess, and partner with external vendors, consultants, and providers to design and deploy learning programs and systems. Proactively manage external vendors and providers and monitor service to maintain successful partnerships and standards of services offered.
  • Training Evaluation: Oversee and develop evaluation metrics, methods, and tools to measure the effectiveness of training programs. Observe training sessions and analyze feedback from participants to ensure learning objectives are being met and training solutions meet desired outcomes. Analyze evaluation data, discover trends, identify opportunities for improvement and make recommendations to enhance learning and development outcomes.
  • Communication & Promotion: Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy that promotes and increases the visibility and engagement of learning and development programs including marketing materials, leveraging S&C's intranet and other innovative strategies. Encourage leaders of functional areas to further the use and reach of learning programs.
  • Learning Management System (LMS): Manager the LMS system setup and the utilization for the delivery, administration, review, and uptake of e-learning content. Provide guidance to ensure LMS content is aligned with current organizational needs and continuously assess LMS-related metrics to determine content engagement.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team. Role model appropriate and professional workplace behaviors, address/mediate conflicts to restore harmony, and support a positive, healthy and inclusive workplace culture in accordance with S&C's mission, vision, values and guiding principles. Proactively establish, monitor, and hold team members and outside resources accountable to clear responsibilities and expectations, provide ongoing performance feedback, both positive and developmental, address performance gaps in a timely manner, recognize and reward achievements, and initiate decisions for corrective actions and terminations where required. Budget Management: Monitor and manage the day-to-day elements of the global training and development budget, ensuring expenses adhere to planned spend and support the achievement of departmental strategies and objectives.
  • Industry Insights & Thought Leadership: Proactively monitor and stay abreast of training and development trends and best practices to inform operational goals and provide recommendations for long-term insights. Continuously monitor, evaluate, and report to senior leaders on alignment with industry benchmarks and check and adjust as needed for enhanced effectiveness.

What you'll Need To Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience leading a technical Learning & Development or related function in a manufacturing enironment, including needs analysis and overseeing the design, creation, implementation and evaluation of innovative technical learning and development solutions across an international and multi-site organization
  • Demonstrated experience with learning management systems and various learning delivery modalities, such as self-paced learning, mobile learning, instructor-led learning, asynchronous and synchronous e-learning, and blended learning
  • Excellent knowledge of adult learning theory, curriculum design, technical training assessment and facilitation.
  • Experience with instructional design principles with adult learners and learners with disabilities
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to lead, guide, motivate and delegate to deliver results, build teams and capabilities, embrace change, drive decisions and results, embrace culture and inclusion and exhibit integrity
  • Solid critical thinking, organizational, planning and project management skills, coordinating internal and external resources, creative problem-solving when obstacles arise, and juggling a heavy volume of diverse operational/tactical projects to deadlines and budgets
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, navigate and resolve conflict, moderate behaviors and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience
  • Excellent communication skills, (written, verbal, listening and presentation) able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels from leadership to support staff, and present influentially to achieve buy-in from executives, managers and team members
  • Sound business acumen and analytical skills with the ability to use and analyze data to drive informed decisions, problem-solve difficult issues and leverage data and learnings to drive continuous improvement
  • Financial acumen and numerical ability to manage budgetary resources to maximum effectiveness
  • Ability to present wide range of content or facilitating discussions in a classroom setting
  • Strong consulting and analytical skills with the ability to assess business and human performance goals and gaps using both qualitative and quantitative factors.
  • Ability to build and sustain professional relationships at all levels within the organization
  • Familiarity with LMS governance and being able to guide a team toward successfully managing the LMS through feedback and usage metric analysis.
  • Skilled at navigating through ambiguity and leading teams and organizations through change
  • Proven success partnering across HR teams, creating effective partnerships at all levels and collaborating at an operational level
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills to foster participation and elicit contributions and discussion from attendees
  • Demonstrated experience managing supplier and vendor relationships to deliver on learning and development goals
  • Talent perspective rooted in diversity, equity and inclusion and prioritizes the employee experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in Human Resources, Education, or related field
  • Strong command of authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Express, and Lectora
  • Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), or equivalent.
