What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a Facilities Operator to support the commissioning and operation of utilities and process systems at our new Semi-Factory in Sparks, NV. In this role you will be involved in the initial startup, testing and troubleshooting of utilities, chemical delivery processes, and HVAC systems to support the manufacturing of our Semi vehicles. As new systems are brought online you will be part of an operations team that will monitor and operate all process systems on a 24/7 basis.
What You'll Do
- Operate and monitor HVAC, water treatment, compressed air, electrical, chemical, and other process delivery systems
- Start, stop, and operate equipment using control software, troubleshooting deviations from normal parameters and utilize control systems to monitor equipment and verify trends
- Provide support for new equipment installation, startup, and routine operator rounds, collaborating with teammates and engineers
- Support the commissioning of new equipment and systems, assist in drafting initial operating procedures and pre-task plans
- Work from schematics, plans, and instructions, implementing standard practices and adhering to 5S practices
- Champion safety policies during tasks, aiming to improve equipment reliability and system performance
- Required to work with hazardous materials, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to safety protocols
What You'll Bring
- Must understand basic mechanical and electrical systems; experience in chemical handling and electrical distribution is desired
- Demonstrate reliability, initiative, and adaptability in work schedule and high-paced environments; open to flexible schedules, including days, nights, or weekends, with safety-conscious work practices and adherence to prescribed guidelines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask and adapt to constant change
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with experience writing Standard Operating Procedures, Pre-Task Plans, Work Requests, and drafting training material
- Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for 10+ hours, lift up to 20 lbs. multiple times per day, climb ladders, use scissor and boom lifts, work in confined spaces and loud environments
- Potential exposure to hazardous materials; ability to wear PPE, including a full-face air-purifying respirator as needed for specific tasks
- Experience with Lock Out Tag Out
