Job Summary:

We are searching for a Network Security Engineer with firewall management experience to join our Security Operations team and support the campus mission of improving humanity by preventing illness, saving lives, educating health professionals and scientists, advancing science, and serving our communities. Main responsibilities will be:

  • Configure, deploy, and maintain enterprise cloud and on premise firewalls and VPN.
  • Create and manage firewall rules, NAT policies, and VPN configurations.
  • Continuously monitor the effectiveness and availability of firewall and VPN services.
  • Continuously improve the SecOps services from both security and operational perspectives.
  • Help maintain SecOps firewall Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Help maintain network security metrics that measure the efficacy of our network security services.

Work Location:

Hybrid - This position is eligible for a hybrid work environment. AMC ISIC strives for a high-flex work environment, meaning although this role may predominately be executed effectively with a remote schedule, there may be instances where in-person meetings and/or activities are needed. There is no minimum or prescribed in-person requirement. The work schedule will be based around core working hours in Colorado Mountain Time.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • BA or BS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Business or related field
    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the associate degree on a year for year basis.

Experience:

SENIOR

  • 3-4 years' experience administering firewalls and network security tools in an enterprise environment.
  • Knowledge and implementation of security frameworks and industry best practices.

PROFESSIONAL

  • 1-2 years' experience administering firewalls and network security tools in an enterprise environment.
  • Knowledge and implementation of security frameworks and industry best practices

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

SENIOR

  • CompTIA Security+ and/or Network+.
  • GIAC Certified Firewall Analyst (GCFW).
  • ITIL Practices with a focus on Information Security Management and relationship management.

PROFESSIONAL

  • CompTIA Security+ and/or Network+.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Packet analysis and network traffic monitoring.
  • Intrusion analysis and incident response techniques and processes.
  • Intrusion analysis and/or endpoint security management experience.
  • Knowledge of information security standards and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with desktop, server, application, database and network technologies.
  • Familiarity with PCI and HIPAA compliance requirements.
  • Experience administering enterprise-class or network firewalls.

Network Security Engineer (Intermediate)

  • $75,000-$89,000

Senior Network Security Engineer

  • $90,000-$100,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
