Summary:

Goldbelt Apex LLC is excited to announce an excellent opportunity for an experienced Paralegal to join our team supporting the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) Facilities Directorate (CFM) and the Air Force Installation Management and Support Center Staff Judge Advocate (AFIMSC/JAQ). We're seeking an individual with a strong background in federal contract law and litigation processes, particularly regarding the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals (ASBCA) and the Government Accountability Office (GAO). You'll play a vital role in supporting our attorneys by conducting legal research, preparing documents, and managing cases, helping them navigate complex contract disputes with confidence and care.

***While some work may be performed remotely, JBSA-Lackland, TX, and Ebbing ANGB, Ft. Smith, AR, are the primary duty locations. Personnel should be in the general vicinity of their assigned location or willing to report on-site as required.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Communicate effectively with attorneys, legal support staff, and stakeholders to support litigation and case management efforts.
  • Conduct legal research to support litigation, formulate defenses, or initiate legal action, with careful documentation of research activities.
  • Assist in the investigation of facts, preparation of legal documents, and review of legal precedent.
  • Organize and maintain case files, including electronic and physical records, in compliance with legal and Air Force standards.
  • Assist with discovery, including drafting and managing requests, responses, and production of documents.
  • Prepare and produce exhibits, exhibit lists, and witness binders for hearings and depositions.
  • Draft declarations related to search activities and prepare case summaries for attorney review.
  • Support hearings and proceedings before the ASBCA, GAO, and other federal adjudicatory bodies.
  • Track case milestones, deadlines, and deliverables to ensure compliance with court and administrative requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all legal materials in accordance with DoD and Air Force policies.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with attorneys and other legal support personnel.
  • Working knowledge of legal procedure and the litigation process as well as substantive issues relevant to Federal contract litigation.
  • Working knowledge of legal procedure and process at the Armed Forces Board of Contract Appeals (ASBCA) and Government Accountability Office (GAO).
  • Ability to investigate facts, prepare legal documents, and research legal precedent.
  • Ability in conducting research to support a legal proceeding, to formulate a defense, or to initiate legal action, including:
    • Organization and maintenance of case files
    • Preparation of declarations regarding search activities
    • Discovery assistance
    • Preparation and production of exhibits
    • Creation of binders for witnesses or potential witnesses
    • Production of exhibits and exhibit lists
    • Ability to carefully document all aspects of research

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) from an accredited university - required
  • Minimum 5 years' federal contract legal support experience
  • Experience with federal contract litigation, ASBCA, GAO, discovery, legal research, and case file management
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • S. citizenship
  • Require the ability to travel CONUS/OCONUS, including potential USCENTCOM AOR travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in legal studies.
  • Prior JAG experience.
