Systems Engineering Lead - Gateway Project GRAIL Location: NASA Johnson Space Center | Avionic Systems Division Contract: JETS II Inspire the Future of Space Exploration Are you ready to take your engineering expertise beyond Earth? We're seeking a Systems Engineering Lead for the Gateway Project GRAIL Laboratory in the Avionic Systems Division at NASA Johnson Space Center. In this role, you'll work with NASA's Commercial Partnerships to support the next generation of space station systems, leading Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) activities from concept to certification.
What You'll Do
Lead SE&I activities including requirements, interfaces, verifications, and integrated performance across the project lifecycle. Manage project schedules, procurement documentation, budgets, and system requirements. Develop and maintain requirement and verification data packages supporting architecture design, V&V, operations, and sustaining engineering. Conduct life cycle reviews, coordinate integration, verification, and validation activities. Collaborate on hardware specifications, ensuring proper verification and compliance. Support ground and flight operations testing, including end-item documentation. Participate in system-level trade studies and influence overall electrical design and performance. Present project schedules and progress to customers and stakeholders. Identify risks, develop risk statements, and implement mitigation strategies.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering. 5-10 years of related engineering experience. Strong understanding of SE&I processes, tools, and model-based systems engineering. Knowledge of test principles, mechanical/electrical system design, engineering drawings, and material selection. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with NASA processes, flight hardware, and/or flight documentation. Knowledge of DOORS Next Generation. Familiarity with life-cycle engineering in aerospace environments.
