System Manager - Avionics for xEVAs Spacesuits Location: NASA Johnson Space Center - Houston, TX Citizenship: Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency may be required. We are seeking a System Manager for Avionics xEVAs Spacesuits to join our team through Bastion, a valued teammate company. What You'll Do As the System Manager and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Avionics Projects within the Avionic Systems Division at NASA Johnson Space Center, you will work with NASA's Commercial Partnerships on next-generation spacesuits and commercial low-Earth orbit space stations. In this role, you will:
Lead Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) activities, including requirements, interfaces, verifications, and integrated performance across the full project lifecycle. Evaluate and document compliance of commercial providers to NASA agency project requirements. Maintain and update key requirement documents, including Verification Requirements and Interface Requirements. Track and manage requirement documents and task schedules. Monitor and report project financials to customers through presentations and document tracking systems. Support verification activities, including objectives, procedures, end-to-end testing, and review of Verification Completion Notices. Develop and support sub-project requirement and verification data packages for architecture, design, verification/validation, operations, and sustaining engineering. Conduct product life cycle reviews and coordinate integration, verification, and validation activities. Review verification/validation reports to ensure compliance with project requirements. Participate in major design and program reviews, including SRR, MCR, PDR, and CDR. Perform and review system-level architecture trade studies impacting electrical design and performance. Collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited institution. Typically requires 5-10 years of related engineering experience. On-location position (situational telework only). Strong knowledge of SE&I processes, methodologies, tools, and technologies, including model-based systems engineering. Understanding of test principles, tools, and processes for developing test requirements. Familiarity with space hardware concepts, mechanical/electrical system design, engineering drawings, sketches, and material selection. Proven ability to create technical documentation and present effectively in meetings. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under limited supervision. Experience working successfully in team environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Flight Hardware and/or Flight Processes/Paperwork. Familiarity with DOORS application. Experience with ISS, Orion, and/or NASA processes and requirements.
