Office of the Dean in the School of Education, Social Work, and Psychological Sciences (SESWPS) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC).

Job Description

The School of Education, Social Work and Psychological Sciences seeks an outstanding candidate for the position of Manager of Recruitment (1.0 FTE). This individual will lead all undergraduate recruitment for the School of Education, Social Work and Psychological Sciences (SESWPS) at UMKC. With a strategic focus on transfer and adult learners - who consistently make up around half of SESWPS's undergraduate student population - this role drives the development and execution of data-informed outreach initiatives to support institutional enrollment goals. In collaboration with other faculty and staff, this individual will also contribute to school-wide efforts related to graduate recruitment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct all SESWPS recruitment and outreach programming, both on- and off-campus, ensuring alignment with broader university enrollment strategies;
  • Lead a territorial management approach to engage prospective students, high schools, and community college partners, with a focus on increasing applications and yield from key regions;
  • Collaborate with SESWPS faculty to maintain up-to-date program information, coordinate classroom visits, and align messaging in recruitment communications;
  • Partner with SESWPS academic advisors to support prospective student engagement, streamline handoffs between recruitment and advising, and ensure a smooth enrollment experience;
  • Supervise a full-time campus recruiter and a team of student ambassadors, fostering a collaborative and student-centered recruitment culture;
  • Design and implement strategic recruitment plans based on institutional data and national trends to better reach and serve SESWPS's diverse student populations;
  • Oversee all undergraduate recruitment-related communications within the Slate CRM and outside of Slate, including email templates, phone scripts, workflows, and recipient selection;
  • Establish a positive relationship with recruitment staff from the Schools of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) and Science and Engineering (SSE) to provide preliminary advising for the 4+1 teacher education program;
  • Consult with SESWPS Associate Dean for Graduate Studies, faculty and staff on graduate recruitment efforts and participate in school-wide efforts as needed;
  • Work collaboratively with the Dean's Office to create targeted, brand-aligned promotional materials for events, print, and digital campaigns; and
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated professional experience with student recruitment in the disciplines of Education, Psychology, Social Work, and related fields.
  • Demonstrated professional leadership experience in higher education.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Anticipated starting salary between $60,000 and $65,000 annually commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.
