POSITION SUMMARY



Training Instructor provides instructional services to meet the Department of Energy - Headquarters unique needs in support of high-risk training activities. The instructor will provide expert skills and knowledge to deliver instruction to TRF-100 students and PF SPO incumbent personnel, focusing on ensuring students achieve the necessary skills mandated by the course curricula and course objectives. Instructors are required to evaluate students' performance by verifying the students understanding of the course material, competency of learned skills, and the student's ability to demonstrate applied knowledge.



Pay Transparency:



Pay Rate: $44.91/hr.



RESPONSIBILITIES




  • The PF Training Instructor will provide expert skills and knowledge to deliver instruction to BSPOT students and incumbent PF SPO personnel, focusing on ensuring students achieve the necessary skills mandated by the course curricula and course objectives.


  • The PF Training Instructor shall maintain knowledge of DOE federal regulations, DOE directives, PF policies and procedures, and appropriate BSPOT references, subject matter doctrine, curricula for training courses, and instructor training guides.


  • The PF Training Instructor must be willing to work a flexible schedule (to include nights and weekends) with varying hours at all DOE HQ facilities and approved training locations in order to meet the DOE HQ training mission and training requirements.


  • The PF Training Instructor will be responsible for conducting initial and/or refresher and remedial training in the following areas: Access Control Procedures, Tactics, Central Alarm Station Operations, Receptionist Training, Intermediate Force/Defensive Tactics, First Aid/CPR Training.


  • The PF Training Instructor will be responsible for conducting Physical Readiness Qualifications Standards Tests.


  • The PF Training Instructor will serve as a Range Safety Officer.


  • The PF Training Instructor will be responsible for conducting firearms training and qualifications.


  • The PF training Instructor will assess compliance with approved training procedures, safety precautions, and emergency procedures.


  • The PF Training Instructor will document results and report to the Supervisor/Training Instructor, with observations and recommendations.


  • The PF Training Instructor will ensure all training mishaps are logged and reported appropriately.



Qualifications:



  • Education: Applicant must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college. Two (2) years of experience may be substituted for one year of post high school education.


  • Experience: Applicant must possess at least five (5) years of demonstrated experience and knowledge of law enforcement and security methodologies.


  • Applicant must have completed a minimum of five (5) years as an instructor.


  • Applicant must have completed a minimum of five (5) years as an instructor; Basic Instructor Training, First Aid/CPR Course; Job Analysis; Firearms Instructor Course; IMF; Curriculum Development; Ground Control Training; Lead Instructor; Supervisor Development; Live Fire Range Operations; and Dye Marking Cartridge Training.


  • Other Instructor Certification Courses (as required).


  • Applicant must possess a DOE certification or meet requirements that reasonably assure a DOE SPO certification will be received in a timely manner.


  • Applicant must or should achieve a firearm qualification score of 270 or higher on their BSPOT firearm qualification or most recent semi-annual firearm qualification.


  • Clearance: At a minimum, the individual proposed must possess a DOE (L) security clearance or must meet the eligibility requirements that will reasonably ensure a DOE (Q) clearance is obtained.


  • Applicant must have strong writing skills and be able to develop various documents using Microsoft Office tools and applications.


  • Applicant must meet and maintain DOE SPO I standards as defined by 10 CFR 1046 and DOE Orders and Directives. Applicant must have demonstrated the ability to successfully complete the appropriate DOE NNSI certification courses for the position.



POSITION EXPECTATION



  • Applicant must have demonstrated experience in the testing and evaluation of protective force personnel and security systems.
  • Applicant must have demonstrated understanding of all the following: Badge Office Operations, Receptionist duties, Central Alarm Station operations, PF Supervision, Basic Security Officer Duties and SPO Duties.



An instructor may be assigned Armorer duties and responsibilities upon successful completion of DOE Basic Armorer Certification Course, and a factory armorer course for the specific weapons employed by the HQ Protective Force.

WORKING CONDITIONS



Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours some extended, or weekend hours may be required.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday.
