Barge, Drumming, and Bulk Operations Supervisor PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (SUMMARY) Reporting directly to the South Terminal Plant Manager, the Barge, Drumming, and Bulk Operations Supervisor is responsible for the safe daily operation of the barge, drumming, and bulk operations, inclusive of staffing (hiring, training, performance management) organizing (determining what needs to be done), leading (directing, motivating, and handling conflicts), and controlling (measuring performance, special projects), and achieving departmental goals and/or organizational goals. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- Associates degree or High school diploma with equivalent combination of experience and education.
Kind & Length of Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in the field or related field.
- Must have at least 2 year of experience leading and supervising employees.
- Public safety and security experience and knowledge.
- Transportation experience.
- Must have competent skills in using a computer to access internet and e-mail.
- Must obtain Bulk Tier III within 18 months of position start.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES AND STANDARDS
- Review resumes, interview candidates, and select candidate(s) for hire.
- Maintain required training compliance for all assigned personnel.
- Maintain required staffing levels based on business requirements using tier structure.
- Conduct recurring one-on-one meetings with all assigned personnel.
- Coach and/or discipline all personnel in violation of company safety rules, proper, procedures, or underperforming vs. standards or expectations.
- Assess associate performance and recommend compensation increase.
- Monitor river levels to ensure work float is properly located using current river forecasts, and moving work float accordingly
- Off shift support as needed for barge transfers, work float movement, tank emergencies
- Ensure staff are compensated per company policy through payroll management system.
- Execute actionable plans to meet departmental KPI and required organizational goals.
- Communicate plans and methods to appropriate personnel through policies, procedures, methods, and rules per regulation and/or best practices (i.e., document control).
- Maximize associate productivity through effective daily scheduling.
- Maintain division of work through tier structure, incorporating new tasks as required.
- Maintain or update job descriptions, as required, for all assigned personnel.
- Conduct daily huddles to ensure all assigned personnel work toward daily customer requirements, departmental KPI and/or organizational goals.
- Ensure all assigned associates have required tools and methods to safely complete tasks that meet customer expectations.
- Provide daily leadership for all assigned associates. Manage all Bulk and Drumming employee time and leave requests through ADP
- Critically analyze new and/or challenging situations, consult with manager, and act to maximize PCNA's value or minimize PCNA's risk.
- Assist in day-to-day production as needed with focus on increasing quality, productivity, and delivery performance without sacrificing safety.
- Represent PCNA to the best of your ability through written, verbal and non-verbal communications.
- Align associate motivations with organizational goals to maximize associate effectiveness.
- Monitor departmental objectives (e.g., budget, departmental KPI) to compare actual performance to target performance, and implement countermeasures as required.
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people and/or goods by rail, river/sea, or road including the relative costs and benefits
- Coordinate all barges and documentation.
- Keep record of all loads and assignment.
- In your absence you are to ensure that the tasks assigned to you are adequately covered by trained personnel. You are responsible for communicating and working with your manager to ensure your workload is covered when you are out.
- Support efforts to implement and maintain the RC14001/EHS&S management system.
- Conform with the EHS&S Policy and the Cardinal Rules
- Maintaining a safe and secure workplace and meet environmental site requirements.
- Support the EHS&S objectives and targets, and any specific action plans or management programs assigned.
- Understand the EHS&S risks and impacts of the employee's job and functional area, including appropriate controls and procedures.
- Understand the EHS&S impacts/consequence that could result if specified procedures are not followed.
- Report accidents and incidents to your manager or the EHS&S department
- Participate in required EHS&S training.

- Maintain training on applicable procedures in quality, GMP, and food safety.
- Report any food safety, security, and / or quality issues to management or the HACCP team to initiate action.
