Position Highlights University Facility Services is seeking a highly skilled Welder. As part of the Sheet Metal Shop, this position will be serving as the University's need for all thing welding. It will be in support of construction, renovation, and repair projects. Performs complex and precision welding techniques in the design, fabrication, joining and repair of metals. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical welding expertise and a strong dedication to safety and quality standards.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Designs, fabricates, joins and/or repairs equipment, fixtures and various types of metal objects and structures using oxygen-acetylene, electric arc, MIG and TIG welding techniques.
  • Welds in controlled atmosphere, plasma welds, and cuts. elds high vacuum and high-pressure systems.
  • Heat treats and thermosprays equipment, fixtures, and various types of metal objects and structures.
  • Operates drill presses, power saws, grinders, metal lathes and a variety of welding equipment and hand tools.
  • Analyzes plans, drawings, work samples, specifications and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of welding assignments.
  • Recommends supplies and materials to be ordered.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Valid AZ driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited welder's training program.
