Position Title: Welder
Wage: $30-$35/hour Shift: 1st Hours: 6am-2:30pm We're actively hiring skilled MIG Welders for a 1st shift position (6am-2:30pm, Monday through Friday) in O'Fallon, MO. Pay starts at $30-$35 per hour, based on experience. Background check required. Work in an office and production environment with 100% of time expected to be on-site. Will travel 1-2 times a year for 3-5 days per trip. Welder Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Fabricate advanced parts/weldments according to blueprints and drawings - Fabricate advanced part/weldments by using equipment to clean, prepare, cut, burn, and weld pieces, setting up and measuring assemblies - Verify welding results by inspecting and testing welds - Update job knowledge by participating in company provided training opportunities - MIG and TIG aluminum, steel, and stainless steel - Pass AWS 3G plate (vertical uphill and downhill), 6G pipe, both using the GMAW and GTAW processes for aluminum and carbon steel - Help in other areas/departments of the shop when needed - Working knowledge of fabrication equipment to include but not limited to basic calibrated tools (tape measure, caliper, angle finder, etc.) hand tools, powered metal working machinery - Advanced knowledge of layout techniques Welder Requirements: - Understand and follow company practices for employee safety/ injury avoidance, use of fall protection equipment, job-site organization, and FOD prevention - Understand and follow company job effectiveness initiatives (BFDI, JFTT, Color Coded Tape Communication, Welding Punch Lists, etc.) at the direction of supervisor or more experienced Assembler - Perform FOD inspections - Comply with all PPE and machine guarding as necessary with each job - Keep machinery and work area clean, safe, maintained, and organized - Ability to read and interpret instructions and advanced blueprints - Ability to know advanced measurements and basic shop math, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals - Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists - Ability to be certified to specifications of the AWS and in-house CWI - Ability to lead a team through a job while meeting all expectations of safety, quality, and effectiveness - Ability to apply principles of metallurgy preheating and post heating - Exert between 30-50 pounds of force regularly - Climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms - Standing for sustained periods of time, walking, pushing/pulling, lifting/moving - Picking, pinching, typing, working, primarily with fingers; grasping; applying pressure to an object with the fingers or palm; repetitive motion, substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers - Subject to noise that may require ear plugs - Subject to hazards such as moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or chemicals - High school diploma or equivalent - Minimum 4+ years of experience in the metal fabrication and welding industry with a practical working knowledge of the GMAW and STAW processes QPS Employment Group is a full-service staffing firm comprised of dedicated and passionate people with over 50 offices throughout the United States.
