Serve as a staff veterinarian to provide consistent and quality care to horses evaluated by the Equine Field Service at the William R. Pritchard Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. Provide primary daytime and emergency care, as well as after-hours emergency care, to horses in an ambulatory setting. Direct and supervise DVM students and house officers on a daily basis in general equine ambulatory practice. Develop relationships with, and maintain proper communication with, local referring veterinarians within the practice area.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Current CA or University veterinary licensure and good standing with the CA Veterinary Medical Board.
- DVM or equivalent degree.
- Board-certified, residency-trained or 5 years' experience in Equine Medicine.
- Clinical experience and competence in primary care equine medicine.
- Management and supervisory experience in a clinical setting.
- Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Skills to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certification or eligibility in a relevant discipline, such as the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM - LA), American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS-LA), American College Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (ACVSMR) or American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ACVP - Equine).
- Advanced training in a relevant discipline, such as an acupuncture/chiropractic certification, equine lameness/locomotor pathology, equine podiatry, or equine rehabilitation.
- Teaching experience (particularly clinical instruction).
- Experience providing oversight of professional students, residents and technicians in all aspects of veterinary large animal medicine.

The Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH) is a unit that provides clinical case material in support of the teaching programs throughout the School of Veterinary Medicine on a 24-hour basis. Its primary objectives are to train professional (veterinary) students, graduate clinical students (interns and residents), and graduate academic students; to provide veterinary services to the public; to serve as a referral center for practicing veterinarians, and to advance veterinary medical knowledge.
