Pay Rate $43,048
Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.


Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
Experience forecasting expenses for personnel and programs. Previous grant management experience is ideal.


Microsoft Office Suite (particularly in excel), Smartsheets, NinerTalent/Ninerworks, Banner.


Duties and Responsibilities
The Business Services Coordinator is a member of the Belk College of Business Finance & Personnel Team and provides support to the Director of Personnel, and Assistant Dean of Finance & Personnel. This position is responsible for reconciling financial transactions and personnel-related contracts originating in the Belk College of Business, an organization with six academic departments, the Center for Real Estate, and more than 150 permanent faculty and staff positions.

This position supports both personnel activities and financial activities within the Belk College of Business on the Finance and Personnel team. This position reports directly to the Assistant Dean of Finance and Personnel. This position collaborates with both sides of this team; assisting in some personnel duties but will primarily support financial and budget operations for the College's business units.


We are looking for a dynamic candidate who is able to learn the existing budgeting processes and can add to them.


Finance Duties



  • Examine department budgets and expenditures for compliance with applicable state budget rules, legislative intent, and federal and state laws.

  • Provide consultation, technical assistance, and coordination in the preparation and execution of the continuation, operating, and expansion budgets which may utilize multiple funding sources.

  • Regularly monitor the budget throughout the year and conduct analysis on discrepancies between estimated/real spending, adherence to budgetary rules/regulations, and accuracy in accounting calculations.

  • Utilize methodologies used in the preparation of budget or program spending forecasts and provide technical assistance to improve the accuracy of projections.

  • Evaluate programs, policies, and rule changes to determine their fiscal and program impact.

  • Review and approve contract recommendations to ensure that contracts are consistent with state, federal, and agency guidelines.

  • Support the Assistant Dean of Finance and Personnel in developing and managing the college's budget model and tracking of current fiscal year and multi-year commitments. This includes management of state funds, trust funds, grant funds and personnel funds.

  • Learn and independently initiate budget adjustments and fund transfer activities as needed.


Personnel Duties



  • Track and maintain records of current faculty and staff commitments collaboratively.

  • Initiate and provide documentation for recurring and new personnel commitments at the college.
