Maritime Simulator Operator - Maritime Campus PRIMARY FUNCTION: Full-time technical support personnel responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing network and hardware equipment in a maritime simulation environment. Assist lead instructors in the operation, start-up and shut-down of the Bridge and Radar simulators so that the lead instructor can concentrate on instruction and assessment. Essential Job Functions: Creating and running exercises/scenarios with any of the College simulator systems. Troubleshooting and repairing of College simulator systems hardware and software malfunctions. Preparing, operating, and securing all simulators and their associated hardware and software. Creating and updating charts, publications and documentation associated with simulation training. Working closely with simulation system vendors to ensure optimal operation of all simulation systems. Overseeing software upgrades and hardware replacements to any simulation system. Assisting and training other operators, instructors, and faculty in the operation of all simulator systems. Cleaning and preventative maintenance for all simulator systems and ancillary equipment. Maintaining readiness and order within all simulation spaces. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to demonstrate the College values Effective verbal and written communication, leadership, and team-building skills. Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse workforce. Required Education: Associate degree Preferred Education: Bachelor degree in a related field. Required Experience: Two or more years of experience running, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing simulation devices and equipment as part of professional training programs. Preferred Experience: Five or more years of work experience in the repair of marine electronics (RADAR, ECDIS, Gyro, and VHF/UHF), computers and associated peripherals. Two or more years of experience with networking, PC hardware, software, and peripherals in a Windows environment. Two or more years of experience with various software installation packages, drivers, and associated files. Familiarity with simulator systems from such manufacturers as CSC, TRANSAS, MPRI or Kongsberg. Familiar with marine vessel operations. Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Formal electronics training, license or certification in electronic repair, such as FCC Element 3 or NARTIE certified technician.
