Basic Functions

Under the direction of the Vice President of Academic Affairs - Educational Programs serve as a technical resource to the Curriculum Coordinator, faculty and administrators in preparation of curriculum tasks to support the development and approval of proposals to assure compliance with State and local rules, regulations and policies. Serve as administrative support to the technical liaison/Curriculum Coordinator to Chancellor's Office for reporting of District curriculum. Coordinate and maintain the accuracy and integrity of the District's curriculum database.

Representative Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Assist the Curriculum Coordinator and the Curriculum Advisory committee chair in coordinating District curriculum processes, timelines and deadlines. Assist the Curriculum Coordinator with maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the district curriculum records and database of instructional programs and course documents.

Provide technical assistance for the training to faculty on how to access and use the curriculum management database program; assist the Curriculum Coordinator in troubleshooting and solving curriculum-related problems with software issues; participate in the review and testing of software upgrades.

Assist with the coordination of the flow of information to ensure that all official course approval documents and Course Outlines of Record (COR) are retained in accordance with District standards, and are correctly filed and readily accessible and available for review; assist the Curriculum Coordinator, Curriculum Chair and faculty in tracking course and program modification through the curriculum approval levels; assist the Curriculum Coordinator in creating various reports/research as requested using the curriculum database software and/or the Chancellor's Office Curriculum Inventory (COCI) reporting systems

In consultation with the Curriculum Coordinator and Curriculum chair assist in the preparation of Brown Act agenda materials; update and maintain the Curriculum Advisory Committee website; attend CAC meetings and record decisions made by the CAC members; create and archive meeting minutes in accordance to Brown Act regulation

In consultation with the Curriculum Coordinator create and submit agenda items to the Board of Trustee meetings; assist with the submission of programs and courses to the Chancellor's Office Curriculum Inventory (COCI) including the required documentations; work in conjunction with the Curriculum Coordinator and the Institutional Research department to ensure accuracy of MIS data and Course Data Element (CB) Codes

Assist the Curriculum Coordinator with maintaining currency of curriculum information in the catalog; attend catalog workgroup meetings; assist in the creation of the curriculum portion of the catalog addendum

Assist with the maintenance of files of District Course Outlines of Record; provide copies to students, faculty and staff as requested.

Attend Curriculum Institute. Chancellor's Office webinars and curriculum software training meetings.

OTHER DUTIES:
Perform related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience


Any combination equivalent to: associate's degree and any experience in working with information systems used to support curricular

functions

AND

1-2 years of experience providing administrative support, preferably in higher education, supporting an instructional area OR

two (2) years increasingly responsible computer and database experience OR

two (2) years of experience providing administrative support with increasing responsibility, preferably in higher education

PREFERRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with databases
Strong organizational skills
Strong collaboration working with others
Strong problem-solving skills

WORKING HOURS:
Mon-Fri from 8:00am - 4:30pm. Hours may vary, 12 months per year, plus fringe benefits; 6 month probation period. All work schedules and work assignments are subject to change based on the needs of the College.

SALARY INFORMATION
The current salary schedule range for the Curriculum Technician is Salary Table 29 Range 30, $66,335-$75,046. Nine step salary range continues to a maximum of $80,836. Initial placement based on experience with annual advancement to the next higher step.

Knowledge and Abilities

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Computerized data collection, management, and distribution requirements for reporting functions. Methods of collecting and organizing data and information.
Principles, methods and procedures of operating computers and peripheral equipment. Record retrieval and storage systems.
Data verification and clean-up procedures.
Modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Oral and written communication skills.

ABILITY TO:
Understand Title 5 regulations related to curriculum.
Utilize technology tools related to the curriculum processes of the District.
Utilize a computer to input and maintain data; extract and produce related computerized reports. Assemble, organize and prepare data and information for records and reports.
Interpret findings and analyze data, and provide related recommendations. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Work independently with little direction.
Meet schedules and timelines.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing

ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor office environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Regular operation of a computer keyboard, calculator, and other normal office equipment. Reading a variety of complex materials and viewing a computer monitor.
Communicating and expressing oneself clearly on a variety of topics in conversation with, and presentations to staff, faculty and administrators.
Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Mobility to attend CAC meetings.
Travel to professional meetings and professional training.
