Job Description

About the Team

Visa's Payment Products Development (PPD) division is seeking a visionary architecture leader to develop and implement a multi-year technology strategy that aligns Visa's product goals with executable plans. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of PPD, you will lead a global team of senior architects responsible for the architectural vision of Visa's core payment processing systems. Your leadership will translate business priorities into a cohesive hybrid cloud and on-premises technology roadmap, helping shape the future of Visa's payment technology by delivering reliable, scalable, and secure solutions across diverse business areas and regions.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and Execute a Multi-Year Technology Strategy

  • Own and drive the creation and execution of a forward-looking technology architecture roadmap aligned with Visa's strategic vision and business objectives.
  • Lead the transformation from legacy mainframes to hybrid, scalable, cloud-enabled platforms while ensuring high availability, security, and performance standards.

Leadership

  • Inspire, mentor, and lead a diverse team of about 40 senior architects, including chief system architects and team leads across multiple regions.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, continuous learning, and inclusive leadership that promotes cross-team collaboration.

Accelerate Collaboration and Delivery

  • Partner with product and technology leaders to ensure architectural initiatives align with critical business priorities such as Visa Flex Credentials, real-time settlement, account-to-account payments, and regional projects.
  • Provide end-to-end solution designs that enable seamless, market-ready product deployments within a hybrid enterprise environment.

Operationalize Emerging Technology

  • Spearhead exploration and integration of GenAI and other emerging technologies to enhance payment operations, including automation, fraud detection, risk management, and customer personalization.
  • Lead enterprise-wide GenAI adoption, establishing governance frameworks and fostering cross-functional collaboration to maximize impact.
  • Oversee strategic resource planning and budget management to optimize team capacity and operational efficiency.
  • Drive continuous process improvements leveraging GenAI and architectural best practices to increase delivery velocity and reduce time to market.

This is a hybrid position. Expectations of days in-office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 10 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 8 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 or more years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, PhD)
  • Deep expertise in payment processing platforms, hybrid cloud architectures, and software modernization efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability as an inspirational leader and technical authority with strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to partner effectively across diverse stakeholder groups to deliver aligned, strategic outcomes.
  • Experience leading organizational adoption of emerging technologies such as GenAI to enhance operational efficiency and foster business innovation.
Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 222,600 to 386,300 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
