Fox Television Stations (FTS) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Technology Operations to lead its enterprise technology strategy and execution across 29 owned and operated television stations. This senior leadership role is responsible for the architecture, implementation, and management of all core IT infrastructure, including servers, virtualization, data networks, and end-user computing.

The Director of Technology will manage a geographically distributed team of Technology professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation. This role requires a strong strategic partner who can work closely with Broadcast Engineering and News leadership to ensure seamless integration and support for critical on-air and newsroom operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of both enterprise technology and broad cast environments with proven experience in managing large-scale projects, and a forward-thinking approach to cloud and SaaS technologies.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONIBILITIES

  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of IT managers and staff across 17 FTS locations. Establish departmental goals, provide performance feedback, and promote a collaborative, customer-focused environment.
  • Infrastructure & Operations Management: Direct the 24/7/365 operations and maintenance of the enterprise technology stack. This includes physical and virtual servers (e.g., VMware, Nutanix, OpenShift), storage area networks (SANs), data centers, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Network Architecture & Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and management of all enterprise local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs), ensuring high availability, security, and performance for all data traffic.
  • End-User Computing: Manage the lifecycle of all computer workstations, laptops, and mobile devices, ensuring standardization, security, and timely support for all station employees.
  • Strategic Planning & Budgeting: Develop and manage the annual capital (CapEx) and operational (OpEx) budgets for the Technology Operations department. Create and maintain a multi-year technology roadmap aligned with FTS business objectives.
  • Collaboration with Broadcast Engineering: Partner with engineering leadership to support and integrate broadcast-critical systems, including newsroom computer systems (e.g., ENPS, iNews), media asset management (MAM), and playout automation.
  • Project Management: Lead the planning and execution of large-scale, complex technical projects, such as data center migrations, network overhauls, and enterprise application deployments, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Cloud & SaaS Strategy: Drive the strategy for the adoption, integration, and management of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications and cloud-based technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Security & Vendor Management: Ensure the security and integrity of all enterprise systems and data. Manage key relationships and contract negotiations with hardware, software, and service vendors.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure and operations, with at least 5 years in a senior management role overseeing a large, geographically dispersed team.
  • Extensive, hands-on experience managing enterprise-class servers, virtualization platforms (VMware, Nutanix, OpenShift), storage solutions, and data networks (Cisco, Arista).
  • Demonstrated success in managing large-scale, complex technology infrastructure projects from conception to completion. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • Strong financial acumen with proven experience in developing and managing significant Technology budgets.
  • Deep understanding of modern cloud technologies and SaaS models and experience migrating or integrating on-premise infrastructure with cloud services.
  • Crucially, the ideal candidate will possess knowledge of broadcast and newsroom computer system technology and workflows.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic broadcast media environment.
  • Willingness to travel to FTS locations as needed.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $160,000.00-205,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
