Overview
Our Power Delivery group is seeking a Substation Designer to join the team. In this role, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver precise, standards-compliant designs, and provide on-site support during construction and commissioning phases. Your work will ensure the development of reliable and efficient power systems that energize communities. This role can be located in one of the following locations:
Orlando, FL
- Kennesaw, GA (Suburb of Atlanta)
- Nashville (Goodlettsville), TN
- Charlotte, NC
- Spring, TX
- Dallas, TX
Responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to participate and contribute toward complex projects in both a design and project leadership capacity, interfacing with our current and future customers directly while working on challenging and exciting low to high voltage substation projects.
- Physical Design & Drafting: Perform conceptual and detailed 4 kV-500 kV substation physical design, including oneline drawings, threeline drawings, general arrangement drawings, section and plan views, conduit and cable plan & schedule, grounding plan, and foundation plan drawings. Perform physical design in MicroStation, AutoCAD or similar CAD tools
- Coordination & Collaboration: Coordinate projects with different teams for Protection & Controls, Structural, Civil, Transmission and Design/Drafting teams. Work closely with peers to ensure accurate and ontime delivery of electrical design that meets client and industry standards and good engineering practices
- Technical Support & OnSite Assistance: Provide onsite technical support for select ENERCON clients during construction and commissioning as required
- Project Planning & Cost Management: Assist lead engineers and project team in developing project cost estimates, schedules, and budgets
- Quality Control & Review: Perform quality control checks on small to medium sized substation physical engineering projects
- Other Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required and a minimum of 7 years design experience, or an Associates Degree in Drafting and 4 years of design experience required
- Experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD and/or Bluebeam
- Willingness to enter energized electric substations with proper training and PPE
- Ability and willingness to travel 10% of the time. To include travel for project and marketing meetings as well as to clients' construction sites, requiring a valid driver's license, and having access to a car
- Most travel is expected to be within driving distance of the ENERCON office at this time
- Self-driven in time management to meet deadlines and provide accurate deliverables
- Proficient with typical office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Windows
