- Propulsion System Duty Cycle Engineer is responsible for developing Virtual Duty Cycle simulation models and generating torque and speed histograms for transmission, electric drive modules, and driveline components for design development purpose.
- Engineer creates Duty Cycle simulation models based on power flow for new vehicle architectures, utilizes driving profiles based on failure modes and quality requirements. Develop duty cycle requirements for gears, bearings, and other driveline components.
- Works with counterparts to optimize propulsion system for performance, fuel-economy (range), drivability, and durability requirements.
- Works with driveline design release, component suppliers, and other virtual engineering teams to deliver driveline requirements, develop component level tests, and evaluate proposals to reduce cost & weight.
- Works with Customer Experience teams to review customer driving behaviors/surveys to develop or modify durability test schedules.
- Communicates the simulation results in oral presentations and written reports to Chief Engineers, Component design/release engineers, durability test engineers, and Propulsion System management.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering or related degree field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in product development (preferably in the automotive area) simulating hybrid and/or electrified propulsion systems. Including, a minimum of 2 years of experience in Matlab/Simulink, Stateflow, Simscape driveline.
- Good understanding of Vehicle and driveline dynamics.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and well versed with Microsoft office products.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering or related degree field
- Thorough knowledge of vehicle Propulsion Systems including internal combustion engines, transmissions, axles, drivelines, batteries, and eMotors
- Good understanding of mechanical fatigue principles, failure modes, and interpretation mechanical properties, and test results.
- Familiarity with system simulation tools: NCode, AMESim, GT Suite, Simcenter, Simdrive.
- Experience in basic statistical analysis and ability to analyze large data to draw conclusions.
- DFSS green or black belt certification
