HR Generalist

Buffalo, NY * Be part of an exciting journey as we build our new facility in the Western New York Science & Technology Advanced Manufacturing Park in Alabama, NY! This role offers a unique hybrid opportunity, blending remote work flexibility with on-site presence during the facility's construction phase.

Salary Range: $70,000 - 97,000

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location.

We are seeking a dynamic and driven HR Generalist to join our team at an exciting time of growth and transformation. This is not a typical HR role, this is a ground-floor opportunity to be part of the startup and launch of our new Product Company, currently under construction in Alabama, NY. Operations are expected to begin by the end of the year, and this role will play a key part in building the HR department and supporting the onboarding of our entire workforce.

This is an ideal position for someone who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments, embraces challenge and ambiguity, and is eager to help shape the culture and HR practices of a brand-new organization. You'll bring both your tactical know-how and your strategic thinking to help lay the foundation of a high-performing, people-centric workplace.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Foundational HR Setup: Be a key contributor to the establishment of the HR department, systems, and employee programs from day one.
  • Employee Lifecycle Ownership: Lead the full employee lifecycle-including onboarding, training, changes, leaves, and offboarding-with a focus on creating a best-in-class employee experience.
  • Trusted Advisor: Serve as the first point of contact for employees and leaders on day-to-day HR matters, offering sound guidance on performance, policy, development, and compliance.
  • Onboarding and Ramp-Up: Coordinate the onboarding and orientation of new hires during facility startup and ramp-up phases, ensuring a smooth and engaging introduction to the organization.
  • Data and Compliance Management: Maintain accurate and timely HRIS records, support reporting needs, and ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws.
  • Training and Development: Help design and deliver training programs for employees and supervisors to support early development and long-term growth.
  • People Development Support: Partner with managers on employee performance, reviews, and development conversations. Contribute to annual processes such as salary review and bonus administration.
  • Recruitment Support: Assist with recruiting efforts including sourcing, interviewing, and managing candidates through the applicant tracking system.
  • Culture and Change: Support the HR Manager and leadership team in driving organizational and cultural change initiatives aligned with the new facility's vision and values.
  • Project Work and Continuous Improvement: Participate in HR-related projects and process improvements that support the long-term success of the sit

Education/ Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in HR or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in an HR Generalist role is required, preferably in a multi-state environment.
  • PHR or SPHR Certification preferred but not required.


Knowledge areas/Skills



  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook. Experience with HRIS systems and internet/intranet.
  • Experience establishing rapport, building relationships, and managing employee conflict with diplomacy and tact. Ability to communicate and interact with all levels of employees
  • Experience with performance management, coaching, and disciplinary process
  • Experience with utilizing compensation programs
  • A good understanding of payroll, benefits and labor laws and compliance requirements, including immigration processes
  • Experience with recruitment, hiring, and has helped establish effective retention methods
  • Experience in training & development, culture enhancement, and DE&I is a definite plus
  • Experience with safety and wellness is a plus

  • Home base is located at our new state of the art facility in Alabama,NY.
  • Some travel needed between local sites, and rare but possible overnight travel to other locations in the future*
