Optum Rx is looking for a Finance Consultant to support the Account Management, Sales, and Growth Enablement teams. This position is an integral part of the PBM SG&A finance team with financial responsibilities, including month-end close, forecasting & budgeting activities, monthly reporting, cost management, and business partnership.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Month-end Close & Reporting:

    • Partner with Corporate FP&A and Accounting teams on month-end close deliverables
    • Develop and maintain monthly financial reports to clearly communicate actual results, forecasted performance, and variances to budget, forecast, and prior year
    • Improve financial and operational performance by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends, and recommending actions to management
    • Track and report on cost management initiatives and risks
    • Manage department operating expenses, including preparing accruals, journal entries, and robust variance explanations compared to budget, forecast, and prior year
    • Partner with and present financial results to leadership, including Chief Client Officer, five Market Presidents, and Sales and Growth Enablement leadership
    • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and increase efficiency
    • Analyze variances for monthly invoices, operating expenses, and chargebacks
    • Learn key business drivers, dependencies, and provide recommendations for improvement


  • Forecasting and Budgeting:

    • Develop and maintain detailed financial forecasting and budgeting models for staffing, operating expenses, and key metrics
    • Ensure financial commitments versus budget are achieved in partnership with business leaders. Be proactive in timely identification of risks and opportunities
    • Load budget and forecast operating expenses and FTEs in Hyperion Essbase
    • Partner with Corporate FP&A on quarterly forecasting & budgeting deliverables
    • Automate and streamline financial reports to clearly communicate actual results, forecasted performance, and variances to forecast and budget


  • Ad Hoc:

    • Manage and track headcount, and create staffing models
    • Review and approve staffing requisitions
    • Assist Finance leadership with ad-hoc financial reporting & analysis projects, and PBM operating expense & FTE consolidated reporting

Required Qualifications:



  • 5+ years of experience in Finance
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc). Proficiency in PowerPoint
  • Experience with Oracle Hyperion Essbase / Smartview Reporting
  • Experience working in a matrix environment, building relationships, and partnering with business leaders
  • Proven detail-oriented and proven ability to meet strict deadlines with monthly and quarterly deliverable



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Ariba, Concur, and Microsoft PowerBI
  • Experience supporting operating expenses and/or an Account Management, Sales, Growth Enablement, or similar Go-to-Market function

The salary range for this role is $71,600 to $140,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
