Job Description
Primary Purpose The PALNG Millwright is a skilled tradesperson who specializes in installing, maintaining, and repairing industrial machinery and equipment. They work with precision tools and mechanical knowledge to ensure the proper functioning of machinery. The PALNG Millwright will play a crucial role in ensuring the functionality, reliability, and efficiency of mechanical systems and components. Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedure
- Install, align, dismantle, move, and assemble machinery and equipment using hand tools, power tools, and hoists.
- Align and adjust machinery and equipment components to ensure proper functionality and performance.
- Inspect machinery and equipment to detect faults, malfunctions, or wear and tear, and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
- Repair and replace defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Fabricate and modify parts and components using machine tools.
- Test machinery and equipment to verify proper operation and diagnose issues using testing devices and diagnostic tools.
- Follow safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents and injuries.
- Collaborate with engineers and other tradespeople to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and hours worked in SAP, Word, Excel, and or PowerPoint
- Replace defective machinery components, adjust the clearances, and alignment of moving parts using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, laser alignment tools, and torque wrenches, etc.
- Connect power unit to machines and test unit to evaluate its mechanical operation.
- Position steel beams to support bedplates of machines and equipment, using blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
- Signal crane operator to lower basic assembly units to bedplate and align unit to centerline.
- Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.
- Move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
- Attach moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly unit, using hand tools and power tools.
- Assemble machines and bolt, weld, rivet, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures, using hand tools and power tools.
- Lay out mounting holes, using measuring instruments, and drill holes with power drill.
- Bolt parts, such as side and deck plates, jaw plates, and journals, to basic assembly unit.
- Level bedplate and establish centerline, using straightedge, levels, and transit.
- Dismantle machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
- Shrink-fit bushings, sleeves, rings, liners, gears, and wheels to specified items, using portable gas heating equipment or induction heater.
- Dismantle machinery and equipment for shipment to repair shops, performing installation and maintenance work as part of team.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, or other mechanical systems.
- Align machines or equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, lasers, or plumb bobs.
Qualifications
Qualifications Education
- H.S. Diploma/GED - Required
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in Petrochemical, Refining, Power Generation or LNG - Required
- 1+ yeas of experience in compatible leadership roles - Preferred

- Possess in-depth knowledge of operating site safety, environmental, and emergency response programs. Advanced

- The ability to apply strong written and oral communication skills while participating in discussions with internal and external project stakeholders. Advanced
- Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of mechanical, hydraulics, and pneumatics principles. Advanced
- Demonstrate a proficiency in use of precision measurement instruments. Advanced
- Possess a working knowledge of hand tools, power tools, machine tools, and shaft alignment systems (dial & laser). Advanced
- Possess physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and work in various positions and environments. Advanced
- Display extensive experience in managing and mitigating risks associated with maintenance work. Advanced
- Possess strong working knowledge and understanding of how to read and interpret P&IDs, PFDs, and other Process Safety Information. Advanced
- Possess the ability to manage multiple and complex issues and work independently. Advanced
- Show consistent attention to detail and a commitment to quality, with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues accurately and efficiently. Advanced
- Possess strong working knowledge of Control of Work and safe isolation practices. Advanced
- Apply an understanding of the maintenance work process and systems. Advanced
Licenses and Certifications
- NCCER or Accredited Certification Equivalent
- Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC)
- Valid Driver License
- Journeyman Millwright Certification (NCCER, etc.)
Work Schedule
OFFICE: Work onsite at a company facility due to the nature of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
