General Summary of Position

TheIntermediate Care Unit (IMC)atMedStar Good Samaritan Hospitalserves as a critical bridge between the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and general medical-surgical floors. The unit is designed for patients requiring close observation and advanced nursing care-more than what a general floor provides, but not at the intensity level of the ICU.

Patients in the IMC often present with complex medical needs, including cardiovascular, pulmonary, and post-operative conditions. With access to continuous cardiac telemetry, frequent vital monitoring, and respiratory support, the IMC is equipped to manage a high-acuity, medically diverse population.

• 36-bedintermediate care unit serving a broad medical population.

• Respiratory support: BiPAP, CPAP.

• Cardiac and insulin dripsfor complex management.

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse you will deliver proficient nursing care to patients and families whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex. You will identify current and potential complex problems of specific patient populations and critically analyzes trends and changes in patient status and plans appropriate interventions directly or indirectly through other nurses.

Qualifications

ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required.
Prior Clinical Nursing Experience preferred.
Active MD RN License or Active Compact State RN and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required.
