Overview: Dr. David Brigstock's lab. We are interested in mechanisms underlying the development of liver fibrosis which is a common feature of alcohol-associated liver disease, metabolic dysfunction associated fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis, liver cirrhosis and cancer. We are particularly interested in how extracellular vesicles (EVs) control this process and how various populations of EVs can be leveraged for therapy. The postdoc is expected to take a lead role in a project involving the production and action of EVs in single cell and liver organoid models of AALD and MASLD. The project will involve EV isolation, genetic manipulation to follow EV trafficking and biological effects, microscopy, omics studies, network analysis, and a full slate of molecular and cell biology techniques.
