Essential Job Duties
The Housing Service Desk Supervisor independently coordinates the activities of multiple service desks including:

  • Coordinating the day to day functions of the Service Desk student staff by planning and organizing hiring, onboarding / training, staff scheduling, communicating and interpreting desk operational procedures, assigning work tasks, and providing daily student staff supervision.
  • The position also coordinates the client facing customer service aspects of service desk operations including daily over the counter interaction and problem solving customer issues especially centered around customer lost keys and missing mail.
  • The position provinces key management for multiple service desk operations which includes key auditing, submitting lock recore requests, determining when a student should be billed for lock recores, preparing keys for and administering key check-outs and check-ins, responding to student and parent inquiries about key lock core charges.
  • The position provides mail management for multiple service desk operations which includes setting up mail processes, training student staff on mail procedures, managing problem misdirected packages, interacting with mail carriers, keeping mail package dissemination records, responding to students/parents regarding missing mail.
  • The position maintains business records regarding key management, resident mail distribution, desk schedules, payroll.

Other Responsibilities
Within the scope of duties:
The position may be involved in additional duties and special projects to meet the needs of the unit that are assigned by the Director of Housing Operations.
The Service Desk Supervisor may serve on area or Departmental and Divisional committees as appointed.
This position is required to handle confidential information appropriately and is bound by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act ( FERPA). This position is also a Campus Security Authority ( CSA) under the Clery Act as well as reporting responsibilities under Title IX for any crimes of incidents of sex discrimination which they are made aware. In addition to reporting, training is required for these designations.
On a specific event/condition basis, the University may also take the unusual measure of "calling-in" employees who are not normally designated as "mandatory" and temporarily assign them to this status, if a specific adverse weather or other emergency event is critical enough to require it, as determined by the employee's immediate supervisor or
next level manager.
Qualifications


Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities/tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Must have the ability to create and implement administrative systems to ensure effective operations.
  • Must be able to analyze needs, conceptualize solutions, and collaborate with others impacted to determine course of action, and plan and implement projects to resolve issues or enhance operations.
  • Must have knowledge of and implement University, Divisional, Department policies and procedures within daily scope of work.
  • Must have excellent computer skills with extensive knowledge of several Microsoft Office and Google software programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Student staff supervision experience.
  • University Housing experience.
