POSITION SUMMARY: Provides anesthesia care to patients across all MEE campuses.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patients to formulate an adequate anesthetic plan and obtain consent.
- Supervise and administer direct patient care.
- Expected to rotate between all MEE campuses and provide care in all services.
- Manage and administer sedation and anesthesia during surgical procedures.
- Record patient medical history and anesthetic amounts.
- Monitor, manage, and treat changes in patient functions during operations, including breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure, temperature and pain.
- Monitor conditions of patients before, during, and after anesthesia to look out for outcomes and potential adverse reactions.
- Coordinate and direct a team of nurses, medical and anesthesia technicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Order x-rays, laboratory tests, and other necessary diagnostic procedures.
- Collaborate and communicate with other medical professionals to determine care plans and provide high-quality patient care.
- Participate when needed in the transfer and transport of patients.
- Provide anesthesia care, including regional anesthesia when needed, for eye surgery
- Conduct research to make advancements in the field of anesthesiology.
- Expected to teach trainees.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Certification from the American Board of Anesthesiology or eligible for it.
- Compassionate attitude with a focus on outstanding patient care.
- Excellent communication skills to listen and speak with patients and colleagues.
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and oftentimes high-pressure environment.
- Certification for ACLS and PALS.
- Adhere to clinical guidelines, policies, and professional conduct.
