Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Purchasing Manager. In this role you will oversee the buyers and guide the team in overall company strategy. You will manage the supply plan for the company through evaluating vendors, negotiating deals, and reviewing trends while maintaining efficient inventory levels. You will have direct relationships with vendors in the sports nutrition space. You will monitor, analyze and manage your team's portfolio of brands.

You will perform daily analysis of fill rates, inventory levels, product innovation, POS, and pricing as it relates to the brands we distribute. You will work closely with the sales team on forecasting to ensure optimal buys and assist us to manage customer expectations. You will assist in the planning and coordination of products for promotions.

You will work closely with the VP's, Marketing, Sales and Operation Teams to integrate sales, customer objectives and logistics into the broader activities of the business.

Position Responsibilities

  • Manage the buyers, ensuring their job responsibilities are performed
  • Analyze sales trends and customer needs to ensure optimal inventory
  • Manage Vendor Performance
  • Evaluate vendors based on price, quality and speed of delivery of their products and services
  • Purchase Order Management to ensure timely and efficient receipt of product
  • Optimize planning tools and systems towards automation
  • Ensure your team is following SOP's and train/coach routinely
  • Recognize trends within brands through weekly reviews of the brand and industry trends
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers
  • Attend meetings and trade shows when necessary to make contacts with vendors
  • Conduct routine calls with vendors to be proactive in planning product needs
  • Provide forecasts for future needs
  • Partner with other Managers and Directors to ensure a cohesive approach in all planning related functions across the department
  • Provide actionable reporting to the Director of Purchasing and Sr. Management related to meeting company goals
  • Support the company's purchasing and marketing programs to ensure adequate inventory is planned and available
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Excellent ability to initiate, prioritize, and multitask
  • Strong organization, tactical and business cadence skills
  • Ability in developing strategic and collaborative relationships with customers and vendors
  • Motivated, adaptable, and able to work with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Seasoned in maintaining timelines, performance, dependencies, and communication across teams
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Forecasting expertise
  • Takes initiative and proactively looks for and suggests process improvements
  • Attention to detail
  • Understanding and proficiency using technology tools that enable demand and supply planning and reporting
  • Willingness and ability to travel when needed
  • Bachelor's Degree or 5+ years experience in purchasing and supplier relationship management
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Advanced Proficiency in Excel
