Overview:


The Technical Writer writes, edits, and publishes paper, pdf, multimedia, and other web-based documents. The writer attends meetings and proactively collects input from various technical and engineering personnel for information to include in technical documentation. Procedure writing, verifying, editing, and converting from other formats is a very important part of the Technical Writers function. The writer assembles user manuals (operations and maintenance for hardware and software), drawings, and other technical documents into a Customer Document Set to be shipped with every system. Finally, the Technical Writer must collect information from multiple sources and create Technical, Field, and Safety Bulletins for publication.

Responsibilities:

Plan and complete specific publication schedules to meet deadlines. This includes developing the draft, getting feedback, implementing updates, getting final approval, and completing publication. Some documents may require the individual to collect information from multiple groups, departments, or business units.


  • Write, edit, and publish System Technical Manuals
  • Convert, edit, and publish Field Service Procedures
  • Verify accuracy and safety of Field Service Procedures
  • Assemble Customer Document Set for shipment with system
  • Create Technical, Field, and Safety Bulletins



Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. A technical background in semiconductor or other capital equipment is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Demonstrated expertise in written and verbal communication
  • Proven ability to proactively gather information
  • Organize and present information in appropriate media to the specific audience, (e.g. written manuals, on-line documentation, multi-media)
  • Portfolio evidence of competence in writing and producing a variety of publications and documents, including technical manuals, service bulletins, procedures
  • Software proficiencies: FrameMaker 10 or later, Adobe Acrobat, MSWord, PowerPoint and Excel, Photoshop, Robohelp
  • Experience with 3D modeling a plus
  • Prior experience with Solidworks a plus
  • Video editing is a plus


The expected salary range for this position is $101,984.00- $129,180.00, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
